BudJet Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 24, 2026

This policy explains how BudJet collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you use the BudJet mobile or web application. BudJet does not sell personal information and does not use personal information for third-party advertising or cross-app tracking.

Information we collect

  • Account information: your email address, account identifier, and authentication data.
  • Financial records you provide: receipts, merchants, dates, amounts, currencies, categories, budgets, notes, and household expense data.
  • Receipt images: photos you capture or select when you choose to scan a receipt.
  • Household information: household names, memberships, roles, and shared expense records.
  • Technical information: security and request metadata needed to authenticate requests, prevent abuse, and operate the service.

How we use information

We use this information to authenticate you, synchronize your data, calculate budgets and spending insights, scan and categorize receipts, enable household sharing, provide support, protect the service, and maintain reliability. We do not use receipt or financial data to advertise to you.

Receipt scanning and AI processing

When you choose AI receipt scanning, the selected receipt image is securely sent through BudJet's server to Google's Gemini API to extract receipt details. You can instead continue with on-device recognition when available. Do not scan a receipt if you do not want its image processed by the selected scanning service.

Service providers

BudJet uses service providers only to operate the product:

  • Supabase for authentication, database storage, and receipt-image storage.
  • Cloudflare for application hosting, delivery, and security.
  • Google Gemini API for AI receipt extraction when you choose that feature.

These providers process information under their own terms and data-processing commitments.

Camera and photo access

BudJet requests camera or photo-library access only when you choose to capture or select a receipt. You can change these permissions at any time in your device settings.

Data retention and deletion

Account and financial data is retained while your account remains active or as needed to provide the service. You may delete individual records in BudJet. To permanently delete your account and associated personal data, open Settings → Data & Privacy → Delete Account in the iOS app. You can also review deletion guidance on the account deletion page.

Security

BudJet uses encrypted network connections, access controls, and database row-level security. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we work to protect information against unauthorized access, alteration, and disclosure.

Your choices and rights

You can access and change core account data in BudJet, revoke camera and photo permissions in device settings, and delete your account in the app. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights to access, correct, export, object to processing of, or delete personal data.

We may update this policy as the service changes. The effective date above identifies the latest revision.
